Best of New York Fashion Week | Day 2

As I watched the second day of New York Fashion Week, I thought I would not have anything to review, only because practically none of the designers today blew me away. Most of what I saw, I figured if I went to Nordstroms or Macys, I would be able to find it there. That is not a good thing. The trends just seemed to be repeated from last season. When I view designs on the runway, I am looking for originality, something unique and something that I wouldn't be able to find just anywhere.

By the end of the night, I can say that Venexiana was by FAR my favorite. I have also included a presentation by a Ghanaian designer Mimi Plange. Now she is a designer to watch out for!!!!

Ghanaian designer Mimi Plange started in 2007 as Boudoir D'huitres. She changed her design label to her name, Mimi Plange, and I have to say, she is a designer I would LOVE to wear. Her Fall 2011 collection is titled Scarred Perfection in tribute to people and countries in Africa who are or have gone through the cultural scarring. She was one of the first designers to present for Fashion Week this year and I was blown away!!!
Just look at the structure, form, and extremely beautiful fabric

in between my two favorite pieces

Mimi Plange just might be the best so far, but we have six more days of hopefully more fabulousness, so we'll wait and see!

Have a happy one all!
